幸福的味道

每一次读秀茵的小说，都觉得很舒服。这次，读完的是《幸福的味道》。它是有关烹饪的小说。能写出烹饪的技巧，我想，秀茵的厨艺应该还不错的。呵呵。


从第一本《纯纯的守护神》、《记忆天使》、《月亮城》、《小天堂》、《太阳城》，到今天的《幸福的味道》，每一本都买了。秀茵的书，老少咸宜，读起来没有压力，不到一会儿，就可以把它读完。不像其他的小说，我看了停，又继续，又停。停停看看已经很多次可是还是没把它读完。

读完《幸福的小说》已经有超过一星期了吧。现在，读的是九把刀的《少林寺第八铜人》，进展还不错，已经过半了。九把刀的书，很多都不错的。最喜欢的就是他的杀手系列。可是有些像《绿色的马》里面的短篇小说，实在太深奥了，我看了一半就无法继续下去，可能要等过些时候再拿来继续吧。

说回《幸福的味道》，书的后面几页，还有食谱呢。如果跟着来煮的话，应该没问题的吧。哈哈哈。想知道更多关于《幸福的味道》的故事情节，你可以到大众书局或上网订购。上网订购可以拿到秀茵的签名哦！

55 Years

I got this book since October. I only started to read yesterday. It's the 4th novel from Xu You Bin. The book's title 55 years.


The story starts with a 12 year old boy, went to New Zealand for vacation with his parents. He met with the ice storm and got frozen. He finally woke up but it was the year 2055. He needs to find out where his parents is, help his friends and get back to his home town.

It was a bit weird when you start reading. It gets better when you are into the story. FYI, there will be a continuation of the story. The writer has finished it and it will publish soon. For sure, I will get it online, as usual.

Try to support our own country writer by buying his books! It costs RM16 if you buy online. You can even get a signature from the writer too.

海角七号 Cape No. 7

When you see the title, maybe you will think that I am going to talk about this movie. But you are wrong. I am going to talk about the book instead of the movie.

I bought this book Cape No. 7 together with the Gidden's 后青春期的诗. I never go out for the countdown because I need to wake up early for work on 1st Jan. I have nothing to do so I started to read it. I finished it just in hours.

The movie Cape No. 7 was a big hit in Taiwan. In Malaysia, I think it is only going to show in the cinema this month, maybe, I am not so sure about it. I have the movie with me, but I not yet watch it. When I saw the book in Popular, I bought it.


The story is about a young man (should not say young anymore, he is already 32 years old) with a music dream but his dream crashed in Taipei. He went back to his hometown and many things happen. At the same time, the story goes to a Japanese girl whose father passed away, found his father's secret when she went back to their old house. It's the love letter from his father to a lady in Taiwan 60 years ago. She then send the letter to the address No.7 Cape and hope to fulfill her father's wish. The address is no longer there and somehow, the young man got the package (He replaced the postman to deliver letter). There are still many characters in this story who are inter connected to each other.

I am not good at story telling. This is just a brief one. If you want to know what is happening next, you can try to either read the book or watch the movie. I am going to watch the movie in these few days.

后青春期的诗

你没有看错，是的，我写中文。已经很久没写了，忽然想写中文，应该是因为看了九把刀的《后青春期的诗》。

我昨天跟友人去了唱K，唱完过后就逛广场，已经很久没逛广场了。我并不是很喜欢逛广场的人，尤其是周末或假期。我不喜欢跟别人争的感觉，太不好受了。既然已经在那边，大众书局成了我不会错过的地方。进入大众书局是因为想买2009运程的书给我妈妈看，其实，自己也想看看啦。我有时候也是蛮迷信的。在看着其他的书的同时，看到了九把刀的《后青春期的诗》，毫不犹豫的从书架上拿了下来。

回家，看了一点，太累了，所以就睡个小觉。从吃点心回来，已经12点多，丝毫没有像睡的感觉，就继续读下去。不读则以，一读不可收拾，直接把它看完了。读的时候，感触蛮多的。


《后青春期的诗》是讲述一群好友，在18岁的那年，一起写下了3个梦想，放进了水壶里，把它深埋在地低下，10年后，再回来一起挖出来看，到底梦想实现了没。故事情节有点似成相似的感觉，可是，它就是那么的贴近我们的生活。我真的很好奇，有没有人真的这样做了呢？我，没有。可是，我真的想。

我一直都很重视朋友。我觉得，能成为朋友，真的不简单。能成为好朋友，更不容易。如果，人生有几个死党可以跟你一起度过的话，那，死也死的瞑目了吧。哈哈，好像太夸了。可是，我就是这种人。现在回想起来，18岁的时候，我做了些什么？已经没有什么印象了。只记得，18岁，还在念中五，忙着应付考试，好像没有什么令人难忘的事。有时候，真的想有一些惊天动地的事情，可以让我回味。遗憾的，好像没有。

出来工作后，以前的朋友已经很难相聚在一起。更何况，我的上班时间和普通的上班族不一样。有时候，朋友叫我出去，我很想，可是我不能。我很希望他们能理解，毕竟，理论上来说，已经是多年的朋友，应该会体谅。可是，他们会有一个观念，会说，每次你都不能的。哎~~~ 我真的无语。久而久之，渐渐疏远了。

之前，和一位朋友为了一些小事争吵，没说话超过了半年。虽然，偶尔也有MSN，可是，已经没有以前般无所不谈。近期，跟他在MSN闲聊时，我提起了这件事。我们都一致认为，我们比女孩子还糟糕。为了一点点的事，而不说话，多孩子气啊！想到就好笑，哈哈哈！！！我们各自其实都在等对方开始说话。幸好，我把我们的友情挽回了。我很庆幸我踏出了第一步。

讲了这么多，其实，我想说的是，如果你有一群好友的话，要好好珍惜彼此之间的友情，别让它轻易的毁掉了。

《后青春期的诗》值得一看。

Giddens' Books

Previously, before Giddens came to Penang, it is so hard to get his books in the Popular book store. Now, the situation changed. I went to the Popular (Prangin Mall Branch) on last Thursday and I saw so many of his books!!!


See, there are more than 10 books, total of 18 books!!! The above 2 books on the right, 8 books on the center row, including the killer series, and another 8 books on the bottom row, which only can see 3 (月老, 红娘 & 等一个人咖啡) and 1/4 (少林寺第八铜人) of them from the photo. Aiya, why I didn't take the full photo?? I just notice now.

Luckily, I bought 5 of them on the spot the other day when I met Giddens. On that day, the books sold at RM24.90. Now, in Popular, the books sell at RM37.20, RM12.30 difference!!

Those mark with # are the one that I have finished reading. Oh gosh.... It seems like I was only finished 3 of his books! I still have a lot more to go. Currently, I'm reading 荒村公寓 by 蔡骏. In English, I translate it to The Apartment of an Abandoned Village (荒村=Abandoned Village, 公寓=Apartment). I will write about it in a later time.

See the * mark beside those title? There are the books that I don't have yet! So hor, if you see this, you know what to do liao la..... Hahahaha.

I Have a Date with Giddens (III)

There was a super fan out there! He brought all his books for the autograph. From his conversation with Giddens, he went to the book fest in KL as well. But in KL, due to too many people, every one is only able to sign for 2 books. He mentioned he drove 2 hours to come to PG for this event. I think he is from Ipoh or somewhere around that.

Total of the books from the photo above is 12. Remember on my previous post: Giddens is Coming to Town, I mentioned that I have 7 books from Giddens. Now, time for you to do some kindergarten mathematics: 12 minus 7 is what? The answer is 5. Yes, I bought 5 of the books on the spot and I got the autograph for all 12 books! So happy. :)

Before taking the books for Giddens to sign, the helper standing there was asking whether you want to take the photo with him. Such a silly question. Of course I want!

I Have a Date with Giddens (I)

As promised, this will be the post "I Have a Date with Giddens" 我和九把刀有个约会. However, I have too many photos to post and I don't want to make the post become too lengthy. I will divide them into 2 parts. Today will be the Part I.

I departed from my house around 6.45pm. I need to go Greenlane to pick up my friend before going towards the destination. I reached the Sin Chew building at Macalister Road before 7.30pm. It's hard to find a parking lot. I need to park my car along Lorong Selamat and walk to the building.

Out of my expectation, the hall is almost full with people. I thought it will be a few and not that many. At the back, the popular staff was selling Giddens' book. We found 2 seats at the 4th row on the left. To me, the seat was good. It's front enough for me to take photos!


Before the talk starts, I went to the back and checked out Giddens' book. Those books that I bought from Taiwan online bookstore were selling there. Most of the books are selling at RM18.90 and RM24.90 nett. For the latest book, there is a 20% discount. To me, it is a very good deal. I cannot get the books in such a low price. I think you can guess what will be my next step. YES, I bought some of them. How many I bought this time? Let you guess, just guess for fun. I will let you know the answer in the Part II post. :)

The talk is mainly about Giddens. He talked about himself, starting from his first book. The talk is quite interesting. Due to the time, he finished the talk and have a Q&A session. Some people asked him questions and he answered all of them.



Before he let the audience asking the questions, he told us he has 3 questions that he is not going to answer. First, why he call himself Jiu Ba Dao 九把刀 (Nine Knives). Second, which 9 knives. Third, where is the idea comes from.


After the Q&A, the talk session is ended. What is coming up next? Yes!!! Time for the autograph!!! This is the most awaited session for me. Yeah..... I have the chance to let the author sign on the books! I wanted to let him sign all of them but they only allow us to sign 2 books at one time. If we want to have him sign all the books, we need to wait. Since he can sign all of them, for sure I will wait. :)

Giddens was signing all the books I have!!!

I'm back!!! Where I went? I think most of you know about it. Yes, I went to meet up the writer Giddens 九把刀!

Now, I'm busy copying all the photos into my laptop. I need time to select which one to post in my blog.

Finally I Got Them!

Previously on Books......

Odonata Publishing called on 8 May and I asked them to send me Bright Times together with Moon City when Moon City is out a week later.

On 15 May Thursday, I received an email from Odonata Publishing, saying that they have sent out the books via normal post to me. I was happy to get the email. I thought it will reach me very fast. So, I wait.

There is no sign of the books on Friday and Saturday. I thought it will be on Monday. Later, only I realized Monday is Wesak Day and is a public holiday. Tuesday, 20 May, there is still no sign of the books. I have no choice but to wait patiently. On Wednesday, when I checked my mailbox, I got this card.


Oh man!!! I missed the postman!!! I have work, nothing I can do about it. I need to take this card to collect my books from the post office.

On Thursday, during lunch time, I went to the post office and got the books. I was so excited. I can't wait to see what is written inside the books by the author. Before I opened the package, I took the photos of the package inside my car!


The package is not in good shape. The brown paper seems to be tear off by someone during the delivery. I cannot wait any longer and open it after I took the photos.


This is what I got: Bright Times and Moon City!! I loved both of them!!!


Moon City is written by our lovely 邓秀茵.


Inside the book, you can see her writing and signature. Nice writings right?


For Bright Times, it is written by 许友彬.


友彬哥 wrote my 奕 wrongly. He wrote it as 亦. Anyway, I still like it very much.


On the back of both books, there is a short note. Both are also very meaningful. First one is from Bright Times and second one is from Moon City.



Thanks to 秀茵 and 友彬哥 for signing the books for me. I like them very much!

Time for the Answer

I think it's time for me to reveal the answer for my guessing contest. Hmmmm, is it a contest by the way? :) If I didn't reveal it by today, I think Kikey, Dora, Sharon and LimZhi will kill me! Hahaha.

BOOKS!!!!! Yes, I bought books from Taiwan online book store. I cannot find these books in the Popular due to these books were released few years back. Maybe you will ask, why not just ask Popular to help ordering the books. I can tell you, it's easier for me to order online. The price for the books are actually very cheap! After including the shipping fees, it is still cheaper! Can you imagine this? Furthermore, It only takes 3 days for the books to reach me!!! It's super duper fast. I ordered on Sunday morning and the books reached on Wednesday noon! Amazing service.

Bright Times

I successfully pre ordered the latest novel from 许友彬 and 邓秀茵.

On Tuesday 6 May 2008, Bright Times is out finally! I got to know the news from 许友彬's blog.

Today, 8 May 2008 Thursday, Jasmine (I think is Jasmine gua....) from ODONATA Publishing called me up. She told me Bright Times is out. Since I ordered together with Moon City, she asked me whether I want them to send me Bright Times first. I asked her when Moon City will be published. She said next week. I decided to let them send me both of the books together by next week. It's easier for them. I'm waiting again......

Oh, I think many of you are waiting for my answer especially Chobits and Dora. They cannot wait anymore. Hahahaha. But, I need to disappoint you already. I have decided not to reveal yet! Muahahahaha.

Some of you maybe think that the thing that I bought online are Moon City and Bright Times. I can tell you, it's not! The online store is from Taiwan and the item I bought is not only one, is more than one. I got the package this morning!

Moon City and Bright Times

Previously on Books......

(Hahaha, I copied the beginning from those English series.) I talked about the books by our local writer, Deng Xiu Yin 邓秀茵 and Xu You Bin 许友彬.

Today, I want to introduce the latest books from both of them. They are Moon City and Bright Times.


Moon City is about the friendship. In this novel, 3 friends received the same email from a mysterious person, saying that he can help them to find the school's director who has disappeared.

They follow the tips from the mysterious person and start their finding journey, in an unknown city, Moon City. Along the journey, misunderstanding happen among the 3 friends due to another person join them on the searching. In a few days time, they need to handle the mysterious person, and also settle the conflict among them.



Bright Times is a story about the Snow River primary school. Snow River is having more than 100 students years back. But now, the school is only having 5 students, which are from 3 families: Chuah, Koay and Gan.

Due to not enough students, the school need to move. The students don't want the school to be moved. They need to do all their best, to achieve good results in all fields and even sacrifice, just to make the school become popular. All their shining moments will be written in this novel, Bright Times.

Both books are still in the progress of publishing state. However, you can pre-order these 2 books now. I have done so. I'm now waiting for the books to reach me by mid of May (If I'm not mistaken). Books

I bought a lot of books from Popular recently. Of course, story books! I don't like and seldom read those motivation book. I don't think after I read them, they can motivate me. So, I choose story books instead.

I went to Prangin Mall Popular yesterday to find some of the books that I cannot get in Gurney Popular. I managed to get some of them and I was very happy about it. And guess what? I found these 4 books on the rack as well.


These 4 books are written by our local writer: 邓秀茵 (记忆天使 and 纯纯的守护神) and 许友彬 (七天 and 十月). Both of them are also a blogger. They write in Chinese. Just click on their name and it will bring you to their blog. I have already bought 4 of them earlier. Among the 4, I have finished 3. They are nice to read! If you can read Chinese, go and buy their books!

FYI, they are going to publish their 3rd book soon. I'm waiting for it! This time, I will buy it online since I can get the signature from them. For the previous book, I will let them sign for me if they come to Penang in the future. They have promised me about this. :)

P/S I will post the books that I bought in a later post. I need to take the photos first. Hehe.
